Now that we had our drawn graphics we could get to work with creating drafts of our designs. We worked out a plan so that we all were getting an equal amount of input into each design. We delegated each of us pages to work on a draft, then we would bring these drafts to our scheduled meeting times and each have our input into each others work and swap and change things. This was also very useful as it meant that all our work looked similar instead of 3 separate pieces of work, this is a good thing because it adds to continuity and proffesionalism of the piece. I was delegated the roles of:
-Front page of the app
-‘Earth’ page of the app
-‘Saturn’ page of the app
-‘Earth’ page of the website
– ‘Saturn’ page of the website
Here is my first draft of the home page of the app:

I used many elements found in my research for this draft for example, i used the home page icon in the top corner that i found and liked on Facebook. I also used the idea from ‘Little Big Planet’ of having my graphics hung from strings. I am very happy with this as a first draft as i think it is heading towards what i was hoping it to look like. The second image shows what happens when the menu tab is clicked, it produces a drop down menu. I decided this menu had to be very simplistic and easy to navigate because of the age range of my product, and i think i have achieved that here in my design.
When I brought my design back to the group they really liked it and after taking their input and the style of their designs on board, i created my second draft of this page:

I changed they layout of my graphics on my second draft as we felt that there was a lot of space being wasted in the first draft, so instead of having my planets placed in a vertical line, i scattered them around the page. I really like this layout better as i feel it looks more edgy and childlike.

I also added a feature to my second draft as shown above. When a planet is selected, a gold ring surrounds the planet, and white outline appears around the planet.
This week i also started drafting the pages for the app. Here is my ‘Earth’ page, first draft:

I followed continuity with tis page, as I wanted the pages and the home page to be similar. I don’t like the placement of the text in this draft and will definitely be changing it in my next draft.
Here is my first draft of the ‘Saturn’ page for the app:

I tried something new for this design, i played around with text and lettering, and scattered the word ‘Relativity’ across the page. I am not 100% sure if this works or if it looks a bit unprofessional and messy. I will re visit this in my next draft.
I then moved on to the pages of the website. I wanted there to be continuity between the outputs of the pages, so tried to keep the pages similar the pages on the app. Here is my ‘Earth’ page for the website:

From research I found that many websites use a ‘Back to home page’ tab, like the one i have used in the top left hand corner. I do like this feature and it is easy to navigate but i am going to try out other ideas in my other drafts too. Another feature i think doesn’t work very well is the placement of the text on the planet, i think it is lost in the graphic and does not stand out as well as i want it to, i will have to re consider this in my next draft.
Here is my ‘Saturn’ web page, which is similar to the ‘Earth’ page, and faces the same problems that i will correct in my next draft:
